Voucher 006. Indonesian tumpeng and sides by Purwanty Syariefadnan

What is a 'tumpeng' you might ask? A 'tumpeng' is a rice dish formed into a cone, usually made out of savoury yellow rice. Sounds exotic? I bet it does. 'Tumpeng' is a special dish served mostly to mark special occasions such as birthdays, farewell party, inaugurations, and many other celebratory events. In some areas in Indonesia, tumpeng is the equivalent of a birthday cake for the Western culture.  The rice 'mountain' is accompanied by a selection of typical Indonesian sides which normally consists of a bit of vegetable, meat, egg and soya products.

Do you have any reason to celebrate? Or do you simply want to invite some people over to enjoy a uniquely Indonesian lunch or dinner? Then maybe it's time to share a 'tumpeng' with your friends!

Purwanty Syariefadnan is an active member of her communities, both the Indonesian one and in her neighbourhood. She has been actively involved in various cultural events, including the annual Brückenfest in Rödelheim, where she lives, and in organizing an Indonesian evening at the Bad Homburger Stadtbibliothek as a part of the 6. Bad Homburger Kulturnacht, 2015.

She is offering an Indonesian tumpeng and sides (for 5-10 persons), worth 100 Euro.  The order should be picked up in 60489 Frankfurt Rödelheim.  The address is a very short walking distance from Rödelheim Bhf, but you should consider bringing a car or some helpers since the whole dish can be quite big. Please bear in mind that you need to discuss your appointment and possible allergies with Purwanty in advance, since preparing the various side dishes will take some time.
